Suffolk Energy Action – a major new initiative delivered by the county council, in partnership with all seven District and Borough councils across Suffolk, has won nearly £6m to help resients reduce their fuel bills.
This is excellent news as the money, allocated by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, will fund work to help households to make money-saving improvements as well as enabling local businesses to gain training and national accreditation to undertake this type of work. Some of this funding specifically will be aimed at action within the private rented sector.
This initiative is not only important to help residents tackle rising fuel bills, but also assists the development of our local green-based economy as well as delivering on our Creating the Greenest County ambition. It speaks volumes about how Suffolk’s proven and delivered initiatives are appreciated within central government. Further information about the scheme can be found at www.suffolkenergyaction.org
