HUNDREDS OF SUFFOLK RESIDENTS ON SCAMMERS HIT LIST

Suffolk County Council’s Trading Standards team has identified nearly 1,600 Suffolk residents on scam mail company lists.

Our team has been working with the National Scams Team. We know the lists of names are swapped between scammers and they target peopel by mail or phone trying to get them to sign up to ‘miracle’ health cures, bogus prize draw wins, fake lottteries and dodgy get-rich-quick investments.

An initials scammers list identified over 100,000 names nationally. Many of these people have no idea they have been conned.

Suffolk residents whose names have shown up on lists are being contacted by letter by our trading standards officers who are offering them advice.

Anyone who is concerned that they or a relative or friend has been caught in a scam is encouraged to call the Citizens Advice consumer helpline 03454 040506.
