SUFFOLK RAIL CONFERENCE
13th November 2014
It certainly wasnt the train taking the strain when I met up at Sudbury station yesterday with Jenny and Nick Antill to go to London.
Only after we had wrestled with the ticket machine and bought our tickets did the announcement come about delays. When the 9.33 finally turned up 25 minutes late the guard warned us, as we began to settle into our seats, that while the train would take us to Marks Tey there was no onward connection to London, no bus service, nothing …
So we hopped off and Nick drove through heavy showers and heavier traffic to get us up to London …
As Jenny wryly remarked all good material for me to take to the Rail Conference hosted by Suffolk County Council. MPs, local business leaders and councillors will be pressing Rail Minister Claire Perry with the region’s case for big invesment on our rail infrasructure.
I am planning to take the train to Ipswich to go to the conference tomorrow – fingers crossed I won’t collect more examples of the need for major investment!
