Congratulations to Hundon which came runner up in the large village category of the Suffolk Fit Villages competition. The timing of the award could not have been better as it was just before the bid from the village went before the county council’s Empowering Communities Fund panel. I am delighted that the application was successful so that the project to build new changing facilities with showers is going to get £8,000 from the fund on top of the £2,000 from my locality budget.

A wide range of groups have got together in Hundon to organise and fundraise for this major project to build changing rooms with showers and toilets on the village hall site. These facilities are desperately needed. The football team has been denied the promotion it won in the local league because the current changing rooms are not good enough; Hundon Hawks junior football club loses players to clubs with better facilities. The primary school will be able to use the showers after its sports sessions on the playing fields, as will other regular user groups and clubs, whose ability to develop and grow is limited by the current facilities. There is a great range of sports and activities on offer in Hundon including cricket, football, tennis, bowls, tai chi, pilates, hockey, singing and dancing
