CHARLIE’S TREK TO BEAT THE LITTER LOUTS
3rd September 2015
I see that Charlie Haylock the great Suffolk entertainer, champion of all things Suffolk and expert on our county’s language and dialect, is launching a crusade on roadside litter.
I read in the East Anglian Daily Times that Charlie is leading a mass participation Pied-Piper style sponsored 65 mile walk across the county starting from Mildenhall to Felixstowe to protest about litter, call on the authorities such as Suffolk County Council to take action and to raise funds for the Eden-Rose Coppice Trust, which supports cancer sufferers.
Wisely he is taking five days for the walk: 7-11 September – not the less than a day and a half my friends Jane, Leigh, Lucie and I (aka Stansfield Striders) took to complete a similar distance on our epic London-Brighton trek in May.
Mind you, Charlie is calling on the public and public figures to join him including county council leader Colin Noble and Police and Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore.
Knowing Charlie they will laugh off the miles as he is one of the funniest men I have ever heard. I well remember when he came to Stansfield Village Hall, people were crying with laughter.
If you are interested in joining the walk on one of the stages (and I am hoping to do just that) or if you want to sponsor Charlie he can be contacted at email@example.com
While I am talking of walking: my Justgiving page for the great London/Brighton challenge has finally closed. My total tally, with gift aid, was about £30 short of £2,000 which was a fantastic result. The total toll was four lost toe nails but they are all re-growing nicely.
